In new homes, cables are often the first choice for networking. The main reason for this is the stability and the security against disturbances. Homematic IP Wired goes one step further. With this system, your smart home continues to work even if the so-called BUS power supply is cut.

Installing the Homematic IP Wired system takes just a small amount of additional work for new buildings and core refurbishments. The BUS cables are simply laid parallel to the power cables.

Robustly networked via cable

The Wired Access Point from Homematic IP is the centre of your wired smart home installation. The wired cable is connected here, as is the network cable that connects the Access Point to the Internet router.

The BUS cable runs from the Access Point through the entire house and integrates the lighting, the shutters and the heating into your smart home. You can also create branches leading from the cable. In an ideal installation, the BUS cable ends again at the Access Point, creating a ring.

With such an installation, your smart home is particularly resistant to disturbances. If the cable is cut at one point in the ring, your smart home forms two independent strings, each of which is connected to the Access Point. Your smart home continues to function as if nothing had happened.

Professional installation

The actuators for dimming lights and controlling shutters are installed centrally in the control cabinet. It is therefore advisable to leave the installation to a specialist. You can use our specialist partner search to find an expert partner in your area. With this function, you can choose from more than 2,800 specially trained professionals who will support you with planning and installation.

The Homematic IP Wired Access Point

is the key component for a robust smart home installation. It not only connects the wired technology of lighting, shutters and heating, but also the smart home as a whole with your Internet router and smartphone. In an ideal installation, the BUS cable ends back at the Access Point. The closed-loop ring ensures the continuity of your smart home even in the event of disturbances.

Smart push-buttons and motion detectors

Other Homematic IP Wired components can be installed in the individual rooms. These include smart buttons, motion detectors and wall thermostats for controlling the heating, for example. By connecting them to the BUS cable, they are also supplied with power, meaning that no batteries are required.

One highlight is the Wired Glass Display. You can use it in a variety of ways, because the user interface can be individually configured and organised. It can be set up to control the light of individual lamps or the entire room just as easily as it can be set up to operate the shutters. With the Wired Glass Display – plus, you can also control the heating, because it is equipped with a temperature sensor and humidity sensor. The Homematic IP Wired system includes everything you need to set up a comprehensive smart home.

Combine wireless and wired

Adding more devices to your smart home at a later date is very easy. Homematic IP Wired can be seamlessly extended with wireless components. If you decide you want an extra push-button on a wall or a motion detector in a room, you can simply use the Homematic IP wireless components, which can be installed without laying cables or chipping into walls.

All that you need to integrate wireless components is the Homematic IP Access Point. It is connected to the Internet router in the same way as the Access Point Wired so that wireless and wired devices can communicate with each other.

Absolutely secure

The Internet router also establishes the connection to the Homematic IP Cloud and the smartphone. This means that you can control both your wired devices and your wireless devices via the Homematic IP App. All communication takes place with the highest level of security – fully encrypted, tap-proof and without registration. This has been confirmed by the VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies), which has certified the protocol, IT and data security of Homematic IP several times.

This means that you can combine the advantages of both worlds without any security concerns: the robustness of Homematic IP Wired and the flexibility of Homematic IP Wireless components.
