New energy dashboard, DoorBird integration and many other functions for the Homematic IP app

The latest version of the free Homematic IP app offers users of a Homematic IP Home Control Unit a perfect overview of the energy flows in their building. The familiar energy dashboard shines in a new, improved look following a complete overhaul. The data from all existing Homematic IP energy measuring devices, such as the pluggable switch and meter or the interface for smart meters, are clearly displayed. Easy-to-understand graphics and data help to optimise energy consumption and make targeted use of self-generated solar power - for example for smart automation.

In addition to the Homematic IP app version 3.5.13, a Homematic IP Home Control Unit with firmware version 1.4.7, which will also be rolled out in the coming days, is required to use the energy dashboard. As before, users of a Homematic IP Access Point can analyse their energy consumption via the data measurement function.

Smart heating control: Integration of NIBE heat pumps in Homematic IP

Homematic IP users with a NIBE heat pump from the S-Line product line can now connect their heat generator directly to their smart home installation. The connection via the myUplink cloud enables two smart automation functions to optimise the user's energy consumption:

• Intelligent adjustment of the flow temperature based on information from a Homematic IP individual room control. The flow temperature can be automatically increased or decreased depending on the degree of opening of motorised valve drives of an underfloor heating control or the valve position of Homematic IP radiator thermostats can automatically raise or lower the flow temperature. In this way, Homematic IP supports optimum, energy-saving operation of the heat pump.
• The storage of surplus solar power in the form of thermal energy. Any surplus electricity registered by a Homematic IP interface for smart meters can be used automatically to fill the domestic hot water tank with hot water. In addition, the target temperature of defined rooms can be raised during the power surplus if required. In this way, solar energy that would otherwise have to be fed into the grid can be converted into heat and stored in the bathroom floor, for example. The screed can release the temperature overnight without the need for additional heating.

Integration of DoorBird video intercoms

With update 3.5.13 of the Homematic IP app, DoorBird and eQ-3 realise the integration of DoorBird video door stations of the D11 and D21 series into every Homematic IP installation. Users benefit from seamless integration of all video and audio signals directly into the Homematic IP app and can use the door station for a wide range of smart automations.

Activation of the Homematic IP Connect API

As announced at the end of April 2025, the release of app version 3.5.13 and firmware version 1.4.7 for the Homematic IP Home Control Unit includes the activation of the Connect API. The open interface of the smart home control unit offers users the possibility to use self-programmed plugins, for example to integrate third-party solutions into an installation. eQ-3 has already provided comprehensive documentation on how to use the Connect API.

Automated switching of time profiles

The new ‘Profile mode’ function is available in the automation editor as a condition and action that can be used to switch a time profile on or off. This makes it possible, for example, to automatically end time-controlled watering using a irrigation actuator when it starts to rain.

Shading and watering control via smartwatch

The Homematic IP app for smartwatches has also received an update that expands the operating possibilities. Users can now operate Homematic IP watering actuators, shutter and blind actuators quickly and easily with their wearable.

In addition to these new features, the latest app version contains numerous improvements and bug fixes to optimise the general user experience. The update with the version number 3.5.13 will be rolled out gradually via the respective app stores from 27 May 2025 and will be available to all users within a few days.
