The past twelve months have been some of the most exciting in our company's history, After all, in September we launched the Homematic IP Home Control Unit, a new control panel that takes the smart home experience to a new level. Controlling Homematic IP solutions has never been smarter, more flexible or more visually appealing. For the first time, users are completely free to decide whether they want to operate their smart home system without an internet connection and therefore only locally or connect to the secure Homematic IP cloud servers for advanced functions such as remote access, automatic updates and voice control. In any case, they enjoy the ease of use of Homematic IP app control and the security of knowing that their device data is only stored locally.

As if this milestone wasn't enough, the free Homematic IP app was released in a completely revamped version in summer 2024. A visual overhaul and new features such as the expanded home favorites make it even more convenient to use. Users can now not only use their smartphone, but also their tablet or smartwatch to control their smart home in no time at all.

In addition to these innovations, Holger and Tido also present other Homematic IP innovations from the past year:

A sneak peek at 2025

There are now over 170 different smart helpers available for the Homematic IP system. However, this is no reason for us to sit back and relax. On the contrary: new and further developments are also planned for 2025 to give Homematic IP users even more diverse options for customizing their smart homes. Tido de Vries is already giving us a glimpse of what's to come.

With the adapter for the new generation of Gira brand switches, the first innovation is coming early in the year. As inconspicuous as the adapter may look, it is powerful. After all, it gives users the option of transforming conventional "dumb" switches into smart marvels with a simple actuator, without changing the existing switch design. A classic case of small but mighty.

Further product highlights await us at ISH in Frankfurt, the world's leading trade fair for water, heat and air, where eQ-3 will be exhibiting from March 17 to 21. We are already looking forward to your visit!

The Home Control Unit will be continuously developed in 2025. Existing users of a Homematic IP Access Point who would like to switch to the new control unit can look forward to the option of simply transferring their Homematic IP Cloud installation. This makes the move quick, easy and secure.

With the activation of Dev Mode, users will be able to upload their own plug-ins to the Home Control unit that they have previously programmed themselves for the first time in 2025. The open interface architecture of the Home Control Unit offers professionals extensive connectivity and unique possibilities for the individual design of a smart building. For example, linking to other systems is conceivable, explains Tido de Vries in the video.

Together with all Homematic IP users, we look forward to these and many other innovations in the coming year. Until then, we wish you a relaxing holiday season!
