International online trade is growing and with it the number of electrical appliances that reach German households directly from abroad. However, a supposed bargain often turns out to be a Trojan horse that abusively collects information and jeopardizes the security of users through unencrypted data transmissions.

Homematic IP, the smart home system from the German manufacturer eQ-3, shows that reliable protection is also possible in home automation. For the ninth time in a row, the system has been certified by the independent VDE Institute for its protocol, IT and data security. Where other test marks are based on the manufacturer's own responsibility, the seal of the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) stands for genuine testing by experts and for systems that are not only technically convincing, but also offer security in the digital space.

Homematic IP allows anonymous use without mandatory registration, relies on state-of-the-art encryption technologies, such as those used in online banking and offers the option of operating the entire system locally. This means that no information can fall into the wrong hands. Personal data is deliberately not collected - only the IP address has to be encrypted for operation. All data traffic between devices, the control unit and the cloud servers, which are operated exclusively in Germany, is protected throughout.

Because security is no coincidence, it's worth taking a closer look. Those who choose Homematic IP are consciously opting for a smart home system that doesn't just promise security, but delivers it.
