Find out everything you need to know to optimally control your smart home! What exactly does the Door Lock Drive - pro do and do I have to change my lock for it? The drive enables smart locking, unlocking and even opening (pulling the latch) of your front door via app, remote control or voice control. A major advantage is the ease of retrofitting: you generally do not need to replace your existing locking system, as the device is mounted on the existing locking cylinder. Can I still get into the house if the batteries are flat or the system fails? Yes, security is guaranteed at all times. From the outside, you can still open the door in the traditional way with a conventional key, provided your locking cylinder has an emergency and danger function. From the inside, the lock can be operated manually at any time using a rotary knob. Is installation also possible in rented apartments without damaging the door? Yes, the device is ideal for rental properties. It supports adhesive mounting, where a mounting plate is simply stuck to the door, or clamp mounting on the cylinder projection. Both variants leave no permanent damage to the door leaf. What requirements must my locking cylinder meet for a successful installation? In order for the drive to be able to turn the key, the existing cylinder on the inside of the door must ideally protrude 0 to 9 mm beyond the inside fitting. It is also essential to use a cylinder with an emergency and danger function, where the key turns synchronously on the inside when a key is used on the outside. Which security mechanisms are effective in the event of sabotage attempts or offline operation? The device has integrated position, vibration and sabotage sensors that detect tampering or break-in attempts. Particularly important for experts: even if the internet connection or the smart home system fails, the house remains protected. The drive can trigger a siren immediately if a break-in attempt is detected, without the need for an active internet connection. What needs to be considered with the key protrusion? The key must have a projection of at least 5 mm (from the locking cylinder) and a maximum of 14 mm (from the door leaf). If this is not the case, the key should be shortened accordingly. Can battery-operated Homematic IP products also be operated with rechargeable batteries? Yes, the use of high-quality rechargeable batteries with low self-discharge is recommended, for example Panasonic eneloop. Please note that the specified battery life will be reduced when using rechargeable batteries.
