At Light + Building, eQ-3 is presenting the Homematic IP Home Control Unit - the latest generation of powerful smart home control units. The Home Control Unit will be launched in fall 2024 and scores with maximum flexibility thanks to online and offline operation, plug-in functionality and convenient app control. Thanks to the EEBUS interface, the control unit will take over energy monitoring and management in the smart home in future.
Homematic IP is getting smarter than ever before: the renowned smart home system is getting a new powerful control panel that combines all the strengths of the Whole Home solution from German manufacturer eQ-3: simplicity, convenience, security and an unprecedented level of flexibility.
The Homematic IP Home Control Unit gives users full control over their smart home. They choose whether they want to operate their system purely locally or connect to the secure Homematic IP cloud servers for extended convenience functions such as remote access, automatic updates and voice control. WLAN and LAN connection, plug-in functionality and numerous connection options make the Home Control Unit the most variable Homematic IP control center of all time.
For years, users of the Homematic IP Access Point have appreciated the intuitive control of their smart home via the Homematic IP app. With the Home Control Unit, intuitive operation via smartphone is also available to users of a Homematic IP control center for the first time - even in purely local operation. This means that the smart home can be operated conveniently from the sofa or, in cloud mode, at any time while on the move. Thanks to the convenient learning assistant and ready-made scenarios, users can set up their smart home exactly as they want it. Professionals also benefit from an open plug-in interface, which gives them almost unlimited possibilities when designing their smart home.
The Homematic IP Home Control Unit supports the entire Homematic IP portfolio with more than 150 devices as well as partner solutions such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Philips HUE light bulbs, DoorBird door stations, EZVIZ surveillance cameras and many more.
The new control panel also makes energy management an integral part of home automation: Thanks to the EEBUS interface, the Home Control Unit is designed to connect heat pumps, controlled home ventilation systems and electricity meters and meets the requirements of §14a EnWG.
With the Homematic IP Home Control Unit, the full functionality of the smart home is guaranteed at all times. All settings, measurement data and automations are stored locally in the central unit and in the connected Homematic IP devices, so that an internet failure does not affect either secure operation or local control via the app. It goes without saying that the Home Control Unit meets all the security criteria that all Homematic IP products are subject to. The system can be used without inconvenient registration and anonymously, only the IP address is recorded in encrypted form for technical reasons. The security of Homematic IP is continuously checked by independent institutes such as the VDE, which has certified the smart home system for the seventh time in a row in the areas of protocol, IT and data security.
The Homematic IP Home Control Unit will be available from the 4th quarter of 2024. Further details on the new Homematic IP Home Control Unit will be revealed in the coming months.
